      I love this! I used to make these every day at a restaurant as an assistant chef. We didn't use the egg-battered bread, just sourdough... and we didn't saute the tomatoes -- but we used turkey gravy with white wine (my only preference here) instead of the cheese sauce. Somehow overall, THIS recipe is better! Love it, and I'm so glad you're keeping the tradition alive with this classic recipe!
