when i tried this recipe, it was my first time doing anything with canning, but i knew that as long as you follow the recipe, not much could go wrong. the problem when i tried this recipe was that i didnt actually follow the instructions. i ended up mixing up the sugar and pectin and overboiling the pot of berries and turning my stove pink!!!!!!!!! i just hope it still turns out ok!!!!!!!
This was my first time to make black berry Jam and it turned out just perfect and so delicious!
Far too much sugar for my liking and Blackberries really have enough pectin of their own. Usually 6 min of cooking and it done.
Made this for my hubby who's crazy about the stuff. I used wild Maine blackberries and was a bit short of the 5 cups needed so I compensated with a bit of blueberries. It didn't affect the taste or the outcome. Made seven pints just as you said it would.
This is a great recipe. This was my first time making jam, and it was really easy. I have always been a little leary of canning (scared it was too hard, time consuming, etc.) and this was a great way to learn how. This recipe was easy to follow and tasted like heaven! Thanks sooo much for this recipe, I plan to use it again and again.
This was the second jam I ever made - it was very easy to make and my husband says it's the best jam he's ever tasted! The only hiccup (not related to the recipe though) was that we discovered to our horror that there were little larvae in the blackberries we picked from a pick your own farm. We fished out as many as we could, jokingly refer to the finished product as "high protein jam".
Super easy, super yummy, I made 14 half pints!!! My family is chompin at the bit to get at it! Thank you so very much for posting this!
I have never canned anything before and this was a great start! I had so much fun, this was easy and worked beautifully! Thanks for sharing and starting my summer of canning!
I want to personally thank you for providing this recipe. Recently my husband surprised me with a bucket of fresh picked blackberries and had that gleam in his eye, as if I knew what to do with them. Well, thanks to your recipe, now I do. We love it and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from you.
I made this jam and it is the best. We pick little wild blackberries every year and my children say that all they want to do is make jam with them this year
