directions

• Mix first four ingredients in large bowl.
• Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in the margarine until the mix resembles coarse meal.
• Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
• Add yogurt and honey until dry ingredients are just moistened.
• Knead the dough 4 times on a floured surface. Roll the dough into 1/2" thickness and cut off biscuit rounds about 2 1/2" wide.
• Place each biscuit on an ungreased baking sheet (I like air bake sheets).
• Bake at 425 degrees F for 10 minutes or until golden. Serve hot and fresh!

1. I usually make the biscuits from the recipe on the side of the Clabber Girl can, but I saw this and thought it'd be good to try something new. And they were lovely...ish. The texture was amazing, it was so fluffy and moist, but as for flavor, there was something missing. That might have just been because I used unsalted butter instead of margarine, so I want to give this another shot. It's nice that the batch only makes 5, so I don't have to do math to get a sample sized batch. :P

2. Really good! I make biscuits often, the kind with buttermilk and lots of butter, so was unsure how these would go over with the family. They loved them! Served with homemade jams for breakfast but will keep in mind for dinner, too. Doubled the recipe, used nonfat plain Greek yogurt, and smart balance spread. Lowfat, with a decent dose of calcium and protein. Got 10 biscuits from my double batch so would triple the recipe next time. Baked for 10 minutes, would probably go 12 next time. Unlike other low fat biscuits that are like hockey pucks, these stay moist and fluffy inside. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

3. Wow, wow, wow! These biscuits are so yummy! They have a moist yet fluffy interior and a crunchy crust on the outside. I used whole spelt flour, cause thats what I had on hand and only 1 tbs of margarine. That way my biscuits might have been a little more on the heavy side, but I liked them a lot like that. They were surprisingly sweet considering that they only have that little honey in them. Thanks so much for sharing this gem of a recipe with us, Gaia22! Ill surely make these often again as they are also very quick and easy to put together.
Made and reviewed for Everyday is a Holiday Tag Game June 09.

Update February 2012: I just made them again for the Honey Event in the Spain/Portugal forum and again these did not disappoint. They rose high, were flakey and soft and super yummy! Thanks again for sharing, Gaia!

I've enjoyed baking and cooking since I was a little girl. I wish I had more time in the kitchen, but I keep a busy pace here in NYC. I became a premium member Jan. 1, 2009 as holiday gift to myself in hopes of amalgamating my favorite recipes and discovering new ones all in one place!
